10 albums I enjoyed in 2017

According to various sources, I listened to at least 80 albums in 2017, and there were a lot of good ones! Special thanks to Spoon and Wolf Parade for making it feel like 2006 again. Congrats to Robert Pollard on releasing his 100th studio album! For the past two years I procrastinated until MARCH to put this list out, so in an effort to remain timely I stopped writing when I realized I had words for at least ten albums I deemed list-worthy. Enjoy!

16 albums I enjoyed in 2016

I’m sorry there aren’t at least 20 entries on this list. That’s what I was shooting for, but work’s been busy, and it’s already March, and Grandaddy‘s new album just came out–I have a rule that I can’t listen to 2017 music until I finish my 2016 list, and I really want to listen to that Grandaddy album, so…

22 Albums I Enjoyed in 2014

2014 was a pretty good year for music! Some good new artists emerged, and older, more established artists I dig either redeemed themselves (Spoon) or continued being great (TV On The Radio). When it came to this year’s list I didn’t have any rules or guidelines different from previous years: If I felt like writing something about an album that means I liked it enough to put it on the list. Problem is, I felt like writing about a lot of albums! For the sake of time I stopped when I realized I went over 20.

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Game Impressions!

San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone, and thank God / I miss it already [NOTE: This article has been sitting on the shelf for a few weeks. I’ve just decided to publish it under Musings since I’m too lazy to add pictures and it’s perhaps no longer timely.] As everyone knows, the convention has expanded its scope beyond comics for some years now, and video games are always a part of that, making SDCC the first opportunity for regular folks to get hands-on time with some of the games shown at E3 a month prior. It seemed as though the convention center itself did not have much in the way of games on display compared to previous years, and this was no doubt partly due to several companies complementing their booths larger “gaming lounges” in the neighboring hotels, where they were open to the general public in addition to Con attendees. Nintendo have had their own lounge for the last few years, in fact, and this year was no different.

I played some games there! Read about it!

20 Albums I Enjoyed In 2013

I tried counting how many albums I listened to in 2013, and stopped when I hit 100, so…more than that. To turn that obsession into something in which others might find value, I thought I’d share some of my favorite albums of the year in an exciting countdown list.

Holidorks Musical Advent Calendar 2013: Christmas is Finally Here and There’s Only One Final Track To Go!

Banjo. It always had to be Banjo. Because when I think of video games and Christmas, I think of the Nintendo 64. And when I think of the Nintendo 64, by God I think of Banjo-Kazooie.
